Police have arrested a man who entered a secondary school in Haren near Groningen and wandered around with a fake gun in his hand.

Footage recorded by pupils on social media shows the man, in a red hoodie and wearing blue gloves, walking round the school while lessons were underway.

The school director has written to parents to say that the person had a mental disability.

‘The building has been completely evacuated and all the pupils are safe,’ the school head said in the note, which was also published on Facebook.
