Fewer than 1,000 people were admitted to Dutch hospitals with coronavirus in the last week, the smallest number since mid-January and 26% fewer than last week.
The latest weekly bulletin from the public health agency showed infections, hospital cases and infections all continued to decline, though positive tests fell at a slower rate than last week.
The total number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 infections is currently 1,408, a drop of 12% since last week, of whom 150 are in intensive care. Around 80% of hospital patients who test positive are being treated primarily or partly for the disease.
The RIVM reported 88 admissions to intensive care, down from 104 last week, as well as 63 coronavirus-related deaths, compared to 95 a week ago.
In the last week 245,898 positive tests were recorded, 21% less than the week before, when cases declined by 37%.
However, the proportion of all tests that were positive went up from 58.3% to 62.6%, suggesting that fewer people with mild symptoms are going for testing.
Infections declined in nearly all age groups, but fastest among children. The number of cases in under-15s was down by 43%, compared to a 1% drop in the over-75 population.
The highest infection level is among people in their twenties, while under-fives and people in their eighties had the lowest number of positive tests.
In the last week 1,408 per 100,000 people received a positive test result, with the infection level ranging from 2,104 in Groningen to 914 in Rotterdam-Rijnmond.
